Knoxville Local Chosen as "Person to Watch" by GDUSA

Courtney Jernigan, Local Creative Director and Owner, Named in Graphic Design USA’s “People to Watch for 2018”

At the beginning of each new year, Graphic Design USA starts fresh by naming hand-picked candidates to a roster of “People to Watch” for the upcoming year. This year, Courtney Jernigan, Creative Director and Owner of Knoxville Graphic House, was among the all-stars of design to be named to the selective list. She was featured alongside Creative Director’s from Mohawk Fine Papers, Adobe Stock, and the Senior Designer of Etsy.

GDUSA’s list of criteria for this honor includes “individuals we have come to know and respect for a combination of talent, leadership, success, newsworthiness and community service.” They further state, “the roster of past participants is star-studded to say the least.”

When asked about the recent accolade Courtney said, "I am incredibly honored and humbled by the recognition of GDUSA. It's surreal knowing that I have been placed alongside some amazing industry professionals. When I first heard the news I immediately thought, 'Everything I have worked so hard for is worth it!'"

Courtney went on to say "This year (2018) is going to be a big year for Knoxville Graphic House as we have so much to be proud of and thankful for. I couldn't think of a more encouraging city to have started this company in and I am excited about our future here." Knoxville Graphic House has also recently been nominated for a Pinnacle Business Award, in the Woman-Owned Small Business category.

Jernigan received her BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design and her Master’s from Polimoda Institute in Florence, Italy. She taught fashion and merchandising at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Nashville. There she was nominated for Educator of the Year and built a curriculum for Graphic Design and Illustration. In 2011, Courtney moved back to her hometown of Knoxville to raise her family and open a design studio. The mural she designed of her daughter, that is painted onto the side of the Knoxville Graphic House building won a 2017 GDUSA In-House Design Award.
